With nowhere in particular to spend the Hari Raya holidays, I have decided to spend it deliciously by satisfying my gluttony cravings. Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant at Bandar Baru Seri Petaling was my choice for the evening. I and my partner got there really early, about 5.15pm. They start operating for dinner from 5.30pm onwards. After looking through their extensive menu and a cup of Korean tea later, we were shown to our table.
More of the Korean tea came. It has a slightly burnt taste of baked corns. Then came the side dishes. The first, being the seaweed soup. The soup lacks the aroma of seaweed and was a tad bit tasteless.
More side dishes came. I must say, the selection was not great. They have about 8 side dishes only. The plus side is that it is refillable.
The waiter stood by our side to barbecue the main dishes for us. In this case, we ordered the marinated pork belly and pork slices. While waiting for our barbecue dishes, we continue to dig into the side dishes.
The above photos showed the raw pork belly and pork fillet slices being barbecued. Pieces of garlic were being cooked side by side to intensify the aroma. When the pork was ready, it was perfectly cooked in front of our eyes while we enjoyed the Korean tea and side dishes. The barbecued meat was eaten with the lettuce and garlic, wrapped in their 'special' bean sauce.
The meat tasted great and was well marinated. Only complain was the not so impressive choices of side dishes. Limited, and repeated.
It is a good choice for Korean food lovers, but not for Korean food fanatics who had tried the 'authentic' tasting Korean food in other smaller, well-known, Korean-owned restaurants.
