Coconut Flower Seafood Restaurant

Klang has always been one of my favourite places to search for good food that is light on the purse. My favourite must-haves while in Klang would definitely be their infamous bak kut teh and fresh seafood. Pandamaran and Bagan Hailam are well known for their seafood but personally i find Telok Gong offers much tastier seafood than those two places mentioned.

The direction to this restaurant may be daunting  for those who are not familiar with Klang and its surrounding Kampung roads. You can take Kesas highway from KL direction until you reached a sign that says Telok Gong. Follow the sign and curved road that takes you into the village. Then, look out for the restaurant's signboard on the right side of the road. Keep your eyes open, you might miss it as the sign is slightly hidden by overgrown trees.

What better way than to start the lunch with a refreshing coconut drink to cool down the heat! As most regular folks here may know, the famous beverage here is the coconut flower drink, as the restaurant's name suggest. It is an alcoholic drink made from fermented coconut's flower. Many people frequent this place to get a taste of it. Be careful though and go easy on the drink. As sweet as it may taste, too much of this is definitely a bad thing and will leave you drunk. I have passed this drink as it was definitely too early for it at lunch time.

One of their signature dishes is the fried bee hoon with lala. The taste is good. Fried, and has a slightly burned taste. The lala however, shrunk to a petite size due to it being fried.

The sweet and sour mantis prawn is another hot favourite. It is crispy and is well marinated with the sweet and sour sauce.

The final dish served was the stir fried kai lan vegetables. The vegetables are crunchy and fresh. Stirred fired without too much salt or MSG.

This is definitely a good meal and the total bill came up to only RM60 for two persons. If you are looking for a weekend getaway from the city's hustle and bustle, do drop by here for great seafood.
