SS2 Goreng Pisang

This has been my favourite goreng pisang stall since young. The stall has been running for almost 30 years. They are famous for their goreng pisang and other fritter snacks. Recently, I noticed they even have a website where you can place an order, call to order and hook up with them on Facebook! This stall deserves an A+ for trying to keep connected to their loyal customer base by social media. They even posted on their website about all the different fritter snacks that are available in their stall and are open for catering service as well!

Their specialties are:
1) Pisang goreng (banana fritters)
2) Kuih kodok (mashed banana balls)
3) Kuih bakul lipis with keledek & keladi (Sweet glutinous rice cake layer with sweet potato & yam) or 'lin koh.'

My personal favourites will be in order: 1-3-2.

The other fritters that are available in the stall includes kerepok ikan (in a packet), keledek keping (sweet potato), keladi keping (yam), popiah (spring roll), cucur udang (prawn fritters), kuih kasturi (green bean pancake with coconut), bebola ikan (fish ball) and many more.

There is usually a long queue in the afternoon and during lunch time. I like to frequent this place at about 4.40pm and buy home the fritters as my tea time snack. It is also less pack during this hour.

The store is manned by two elderly women of the Wong family. One will be frying the fritters, the other will be attending to customer orders and pack the fritters.

The huge selection of fried fritters

The goreng pisang are of good quality and taste very sweet. Their goreng pisang and 'lin koh' are fried to golden brown and are so crunchy you could hear it in your mouth! The fritters remained crunchy even till I got home. But of course, I live like a 5 minutes drive away from the stall. Hehe.

The 'lin koh' which is a hot favourite it finish fast!

I remember coming by their stall since young and my mom loves to buy the goreng pisang and 'lin koh.' Heck, the stall is almost as old as me! Or as young as me...hehe.

This is the stall which will make me come back again and again for more. If it's around for another 10 years, would buy some for my kids to savour.

Such a legacy!

Location: SS2/64  (opposite SS2 Alliance Bank or opposite SS2 Pelita restaurant. The white color van is hard to miss!
